Closures of Finite Primitive Permutation Groups
Let G be a primitive permutation group on a finite set ft, and, for k ^ 2, let G be the Ar-closure of G, that is, the largest subgroup of Sym (ft) preserving all the G-invariant ^-relations on ft. Suppose that G<H^ G and G and H have different socles. It is shown that k ^ 5 and the groups G and H are classified explicitly.
متن کاملPrimitive Permutation Groups of Finite Morley Rank
We prove a version of the O'Nan-Scott Theorem for detinably primitive permutation groups of finite Morley rank. This yields questions about structures of finite Morley rank of the form (F, + , . , / / ) where (F, +,.) is an algebraically closed field and H is a central extension of a simple group with /Y=sGL(rt, F). We obtain partial results on such groups H, and show for example that if char(/...
متن کاملNilpotent Primitive Linear Groups over Finite Fields
In this paper we investigate the structure of groups as in the title. Our work builds on work of several other authors, namely Konyuh [5], Leedham-Green and Plesken [6], and Zalesskii [10], who have described the abstract isomorphism types of the groups. We obtain more detailed descriptions, in particular explaining how group structure depends on the existence of an abelian primitive subgroup. ...
متن کاملFinite Linear Groups in Seven Variables
If G is a finite group which has a faithful complex representation of degree n it is said to be a linear group in n variables. This is equivalent to saying G is a finite group of complex linear transformations. I t is customary to consider only unimodular linear transformations. For n ^ 4 these groups have been known for a long time. An account may be found in Blichfeldt's book [ l ] . For n = ...

of order n on V . It follows that R induces a projective collineation φ on the (n−1)dimensional projective space PG(n−1, q). We call φ and any projective collineation conjugate to φ a Frobenius collineation. In the present paper we shall study the case n = 3, that is, the Frobenius collineations of the projective plane PG(2, q). Let P = PG(2, q). Then every Singer cycle σ (see Section 3) of P d...
